“Why is the knowledge of the glory of the Lord thin? Because Man does not give Me My sovereignty. Man’s understanding has added and taken away from the truth, and usurped one of the greatest functions of the Holy Spirit; teaching Truth.
False teachers and false prophets deny the sovereign Lord who bought them (2 Pet 2:1). And this is the root of all heresies; adding Man’s understanding to God’s Word. In the list of vices (Gal 5:20) are selfish ambition, dissensions, and factions. These are less evident works of the flesh for they operate in the mind and can eloquently be presented as gifted learning. An ambitious Christian leader seems full of confidence, and one that disagrees with common knowledge may seem genuinely sincere in his opposing beliefs. Indeed, men will applaud those who elevate their own status (Ps 49:18). But it is the broken and contrite man who stands in My presence (Is 66:2).
In this hour, men will be pulled in opposite directions; some will go towards pride, to elevate themselves to themselves and others by their words and actions. The others will go towards lowliness. The second group of men have given Me sovereignty in their lives. In their trials they do not turn away. When patience is required, they do not run to the idols of this life; the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life (1 Jn 2:16). They have become lowly because they trust the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has become their meat and bread, their portion in this life. And like the priests of old, their inheritance is to be called, separated to the Lord. They are dedicated to Me and value every Word that comes from My mouth.
If a man lives by his own understanding and loves his own words, he has usurped the Holy Spirit. If his opinions and speech are opposed to the knowledge of the Lord and he denies My sovereignty, he blasphemes My Holy Spirit. This is the end manifestation, or fruit, of a man who opposes the Holy Spirit’s instruction.
The Holy Spirit is a Counselor, a Teacher, and the Spirit of Truth (Jn 14:17 & 26). His work is to convict of sin, bear witness to Jesus, and set the boundaries of judgment down, the measurement of Christ (Jn 16:8-11). When He ministers to the believer, we know He is speaking the truth because He takes the truth the Father is offering to us, and gives the understanding to us (Jn 16:15).
In the Bible you read that the disciples asked Me for understanding. I told them I no longer would speak to them in parables, but plainly. I encouraged My disciples to ask in My name, and the Holy Spirit would give them the answer (Jn 16:23-28). I knew that the function of My Spirit would be to reveal truth to those who asked. Because the Father’s thoughts are higher, and His ways are higher, you are now taught about them by the Holy Spirit. It is significant to ask in My name because the name represents the character of the one named. That is how the Words which the Holy Spirit speak sanctify those who receive them (Jn 17:17), for I was and am holy. I am glorified in you (vs 10) and still glorify the Father by My Life and Words living in you, because My nature has not changed (Jn 17:4). I am still teaching you about the Father’s name (Jn 17:11), His character. You are given pieces of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, which one day will cover the earth (Hab 2:14). This is the work of the Holy Spirit”.
