Revelation 9 - the 6th Trumpet

The fifth trumpet released satan’s demons from the pit, who afflicted the minds of those not protected by the seal of God. The sixth trumpet releases the contents of the pit, smoke, fire and sulfur, to slay 1/3 of mankind. The power of the demons is in their mouths, wherein the smoke, fire and sulfur reside. Hell has a voice, and it’s heard when demons speak. The number of them, 200 million, tells us that there will be much trouble on the earth.

Men have been admonished to speak wisely, for the power of life and death is in the tongue (Prov 18:21). Our tongues can be set on fire by hell (Jms 3:3-11). These truthes should be heeded, for the Lord is telling us that spoken thoughts can set in motion life or death. This is how satan operates through his demons.

The heads of the horses were lions, representing the devourer (1 Pet 5:8). Unlike the locust-demons released with the sounding of the 5th trumpet, who wounded men with their teeth, the horse-demons released with the sounding of the 6th trumpet devour and kill men. These demons release the thoughts from hell onto men so that men’s physical hands will carry out spiritually wicked deeds. Therefore it is written that those who were not killed “still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons . . .” Those on the earth whom these demons plague worship the demons with their minds, and finally, with their actions, or works. “Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts,” (Rev 9:21). Because men heard and obeyed thoughts from the pit of hell, 1/3 of mankind was killed.

The demon-horses also had snake-like tails that injured men with their bite. This represents the oppressively biting thoughts that spur men into action. They are relentless, seeking an action that will express the evil intentions of hell. Men will feel compelled to do evil, and will have no peace until it is done. When they are not doing evil deeds, they will worship demons and inanimate objects “idols that cannot see or hear or walk,” (Rev 9:20). They have shut their spirits off from the One True God who sees, hears, walks on this earth in His people . . . and who would gladly share His own thoughts with them. But these men have hardened their hearts against repentance and do not seek God. Satan does not need to slay men when he can get men to do his work for him.
